Marcellus Shale The Marcellus Shale, a formation that runs from the southern tier of New York, through the western portion of Pennsylvania into the eastern half of Ohio and through Maryland and West Virginia, is estimated to hold 1000 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Shale drilling is a safe, effective and environmentally sound way to produce clean-burning natural gas.
