Marcellus Companies Give Back
Last month, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette highlighted how the development of natural gas “has brought countless new businesses and jobs to our community” and “a wave of generosity and compassion.” The story, Generous Side of Gas, described the volunteerism and generous giving that has developed as a result of natural gas development in Williamsport and communities across Central Pennsylvania.
The story states that Chief Oil & Gas was one of the first natural gas companies to support the United Way in 2008, soon after it began operations in Pennsylvania. Daria Fish of Chief Oil & Gas states, "Most of our employees are from the local area and we want to help our friends and neighbors.”
Chief is proud to be part of the community through volunteering and local outreach initiatives, and is thankful for its partnership with Lycoming County United Way (LCUW).
Kate Pacacha of LCUW said, "LCUW funds 43 local human service programs throughout Lycoming County and we couldn't do it without the kindness and generosity of folks like this. They exhibit a personal commitment of pride and dedication helping to make Lycoming County a better place for all of us to live, work and raise our families."
Chief, along with Tug Hill Inc. also committed $250,000 in September to aid in flood relief efforts across Northeast Pennsylvania. The following local organizations received funding from Chief:
- American Red Cross-Wyoming & Susquehanna Counties
- American Red Cross-Wyoming Valley
- Davidson Township Sewer Authority
- Interfaith Friends
- Lackawanna College Towanda Center
- Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce
- Salvation Army Towanda
- Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce
- Sullivan County NTSWA Environmental Stewardship Fund
- United Way of Susquehanna County
- Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce
- Wyoming County United Way
“Chief is proud to be part of the communities where we work across Pennsylvania,” said Trevor Rees-Jones, Founder and CEO of Chief Oil & Gas. “We pride ourselves in our community outreach efforts and value the relationships we have built with our neighbors and partners.”
